Every estate is full of claims: numbers, superlatives, commitments, comparisons. Most were true when written. Almost none carry a source. Sage pulls each one out with its exact words and its page, and grades the evidence for what it saw: observed, inferred, declared or not known. A claim on the record is never a bare score; it is something you can check.
Sage doesn't arbitrate external truth. If your homepage says you are carbon neutral, Sage won't audit your offsets. He'll show you every page that says it, in its words, and flag it as generic when nothing on the page backs it; Cedar will tell you if two pages say it differently. What's on the record, what's generic, what disagrees: that's the fact-checker's job on an estate.
